I'm losing my patience with the McCain Campaign. Charging Senator Obama with playing politics on Iraq is a whine if I've ever heard one. OF COURSE Senator Obama is playing politics with Iraq. That is what politicians do! Let us not forget, in this democracy, yet another instance of the genius of our founders was the placement of the Commander-in-Chief function in an elected office and the war-declaring function in a political branch. The conduct of war in the United States, is as Clausewitz envisioned it, the conduct of politics by other methods. Any time I hear a politician accuse another politician of "playing politics", I find myself laughing out loud.
Senator Hagel's comments in the article are scurrilous. Liberals and their lapdogs love to play the patriotism card, as if any impugning of a policy motive moves over the line of questioning patriotism.
While I'm on the subject of liberals and patriotism though, when is the last time any of us heard a conservative say he or she would leave the country if a liberal were elected President?
