Shifting Positions
E.J. Dionne does a fine job laying out Senator Obama's recent nuance-ing of his Iraq position, and he essentially gets it right in saying that John McCain will not have much ground to stand on when criticizing Obama for changing his position, given his own policy changes in recent months. Obama was wrong on the surge, and he must account for that now. McCain was wrong on drilling (and is still wrong on drilling in ANWR) and he is accounting for it. Would that we had a candidate who had chosen the right position on the big issues from the start....
