This one came out of nowhere, but I guess it may simply be another sign of the inevitable. William F. Buckley Jr's son Christopher has endorsed Barack Obama. Rich Lowry of the National Review has banished Buckley from the magazine his father started.
Lowry is right in doing this; Buckley is free to choose and endorse whomever he wishes for President, and a magazine devoted to furthering the conservative movement has the right to police who will write in it.
That said, this incident raises for me, the biggest weakness in the McCain candidacy--because so many of his policies are indistinguishable from Senator Obama's, his temperament and likability have become central facets of his run. Senator McCain's candidacy has always been about his resume, his service, his character. Folks respect those things, they just seem to like Senator Obama more.

I cannot only speak for myself on this issue; I don't care much about a candidate's likeability, rather i am more interested in the individual's character, intellect, experience, policies and most importantly his or her ability to listen and grow. The latter is where Senator McCain's know-it-all style is hard for me to stomach. JPH
Don't forget to mention that McCain was/is a baby-killer.
