The recent melt-down of the credit market and Congress' feckless attempt to address it has been a boon to the Obama campaign. I tried to tell The Kitten last night that it was a classic "mommy/daddy" issue. I've always looked at the Dems as the "mommy" party (caring, emotive, supportive) and the Repubs as the "daddy" party (stern, wipe yourself off, strong). She wasn't buying it, but then again, she's not into politics. Nor is she into my light-hearted sexism.
Americans are scared and they are running to Mommy. We need to give them a new Mommy.
The McCain Campaign will live or die based on Sarah Palin's performance tomorrow night. She needs to be as impressive tomorrow night as she was in her acceptance speech. She needs to knock it out of the park.
If she is average, or just a little better than average, Barack should start measuring for drapes at the White House.

What is your prognostication?
Great.
We don't need "Mommy." We need "Mom." The Mom who tells us, "No, don't cross the busy street," instead of allowing us to "...explore and satisfy our curiosity." We need the Mom who tells us "No" at the grocery store every time we asked for candy, instead of giving-in everytime. We need Mom who tells us "No" when we ask for the car keys and haven't finished our chores or homework. We need Mom who tells us "Good job" when we got an A for a grade, not Mommy who says, "It's OK, I know you tried hard and I'll talk to your teacher to see if she'll change your grade," when you brought home a C. We need Mom who tells us "No dessert" if we didn't eat our vegetables or clean our plates. We need Mom who sees a baby as a miracle, not a punishment.
Pretty good stuff, Dan.
