Obama and Campaign Finance
Barack Obama's decision to forgo public financing has destroyed any credibility that he or the Democratic Party have on attempting to make reform a priority of an Obama Administration. Good. I applaud the Obama Campaign's success, I wish Senator McCain had acted similarly. Campaign finance reform is a limitation on free speech, and it ultimately is a tool of the Democratic Party wishing to send Republicans into a permanent minority.

The problem is the lack of enthusiasm for McCain. People weren't exactly contributing to him in record amounts prior to the date he had to accept the public financing. He never would have been able to raise the kind of money to be competitive.
Sorry Sally, I don't see it that way. He'd surely have raised more than $84M.
