Where Did the War Go?

Oh yeah, that's right. We're a nation at war....in two places. But you couldn't tell that from the 24 hour coverage of all financial disaster, all the time.

Part of the reason that the war has slipped from the front pages is that in Iraq at least (you know, the place where Senator Reid said we had lost, and where Senator Obama said a surge would not work, we should begin to leave), we seem to have turned a corner. I will forever be proud of George Bush, General Petreaus, Senator McCain--and especially America's Army, Marine Corps and Diplomatic/Intelligence Corps for doing the right hard thing and sticking this out.

I hope that a President Obama realizes that we've got to see it through. I agree with his impulse to spend more time and effort on Afghanistan (where we are not winning), but that will come in due time.
