Pakistan's Safe Haven Not So Safe Anymore

Since CIA Chief Hayden announced last year that we would be "taking the fight" to the enemy holed up in Waziristan (a.k.a Pakistan), we've been racking up a pretty impressive kill ratio on the folks occupying the least stable job in the world, "operations chief" for Al Queda cells. News yesterday of two new miscreants sent to their rendezvous with the 70 virgins, recipients of a 100 pound Hellfire missile fired by an unmanned aerial vehicle operated presumably by the CIA.

Don't look for this kind of thing to abate in the Obama administration. Active operations in Pakistan were something he full-throatedly endorsed during the campaign, leaving him even a bit to the right of McCain on the issue. Now, PEBO's cajones on Pakistan/Afghanistan were largely a political ploy meant to mitigate his cut and run strategy in Iraq, but I think the situation on the ground in Iraq is moving his way anyway, thanks to George W and Gen. Petreaus.
