Do you remember last summer when the news hit that the National Journal had analyzed Barack Obama's voting record and determined that he was the most liberal member of the US Senate? Do you remember the firestorm that flowed from that--how the study was unscientific, how the voting pattern revealed very little, how closely packed all the Democratic Senators were, etc?
Do your remember when Sarah Palin went on her attack-dog mission, accusing Obama of moving the country toward socialism (not to put too fine a point on it, but so was John McCain)? My goodness, the outcry in the media!
So here we are, less than a month into his administration....is there any question now about who it is we elected and how he'll govern?
Lots of folks in the middle and right looked at the way this stimulus bill shook out and saw the vile fingerprints of Speaker Pelosi and Leader Reid...they thought the President meant what he said about bi-partisanship and they honestly believed he was looking to put forward a bill designed to jumpstart our economy.
I think we now have the measure of our man, and anyone who thinks that Pelosi and Reid hornswaggled our poor new President doesn't understand Barack Obama and doesn't understand the Presidency. Pelosi and Reid are carrying his water while he poses as the one above the fray, beckoning wayward Republicans for drinks at the White House while he plots how to send them into the permanent minority.

Nicely said...Comrade!
I find it fascinating to observe the right and left explain this situation. The war of the airwaves is just starting to heat up... CW articulates the right's position quite nicely. The other side views the Washington Hill Republicans (not Republican Governors - IE Governor Crist) as being desperate to ruin Obama's administration before his success relegates them and their ideology to years in the minority... which argument more closely resembles reality? I don't know but I suspect somewhere in the middle. JPH
The promise of nearly a trillion dollars to stimulate the economy, and Wall Street loses almost 4% today? Where are all the people lining-up to invest in "shovel" futures?
And for those that do buy into the 'Pelosi and Reid rolled Obama' storyline, why isn't anyone then calling into question his leadership skills?
As an aside, wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall in Nancy's audience with the Pope today? Perhaps they will discuss when life begins, since after all she claims the Catholic Church has been struggling with that question for some time.
CW - I was certainly one of them, in my zeal to NOT be like the Dems who painted Bush the great villain responsible for every evil from world hunger to nail fungus. I believe there is more than adequate evidence as you state, that I gave Reid and Pelosi, and our new President, too much credit. Doc, "Comrade" indeed.
I'm so depressed lately by this spending bill. I'm glad I can find some comfort on this blog. Thank you CW for keeping the flame alive.
