WHY ISN'T OBAMA BEING PRIMARIED?

Why isn't the President attracting opposition within his own party? The Democrats can read a poll just like everybody else. They know he is extremely vulnerable in 2012 (and by extension all Democrats). He can't run on his record. The "blame it all on Bush" argument is so tired and worn it's practically useless. The "obstructionist Republican" line is pretty thin as well considering the Dems had filibuster proof majorities for two long years. Plus, all but minorities and the ultra-left fear the race card being played because they know it will drive away moderate/independent whites, without which he can't win. They know Obama's policies are unpopular and he will likely lose, so why isn't he being primaried?

I think the Democratic establishment is in a pickle. In 2008 after McCain was nominated they knew they would win. They knew Hillary was the smart choice and Obama was just selfish indulgence, but the opportunity to elect the first black and a hardcore leftist to boot, well they just couldn't help themselves. But that was then, this is now. They see Hillary as the only one who can save the Party (and their own elections) in '12, but there's only one problem, it's politically impossible. Any Democrat that dares challenge Barack Obama would be finished. Even if said individual were successful and became the nominee, however unlikely, he or she would incite the undying enmity of the true believers and be denounced as a traitor, a usurper of progressive ideals for base political gain. Furthermore, they would for all time be excoriated by the liberal media as the one who brought down our first black president.

Right, wrong, good or bad, Obama is their horse and there's not a damned thing they can do about it. But this time it's no indulgence, this time they truly can't help themselves.

Excellent analysis, Hammer. Except never underestimate Ms. Rodham Clinton's own inability to help HERself--she wants to be the first female president more than she wants Bill to resume his heart-unhealthy fast food diet (and she wants that more than just about anything else...except maybe a steel cage death match with that intern in the blue dress).

Let her run, split them down the middle, Rick Perry Uber Alles!

Did you see Kinky Friedman on O'Reilly last night? He said Obama has done for the economy what panty hose did to foreplay.

2012 prediction: If Obama loses the election, look for similar uncivil activities that plagued London earlier this month. I am talking riots in all major cities.
You heard it here first.

Hillary won't run unless Obama expires in office and Slow Joe Biden takes the helm.

I agree with your analysis.
