Yes ladies and gentlemen, here it is, once again, a FREE FOR ALL FRIDAY! Post your thoughts on whatever you like. Ask a question that you want readers to answer. Pose a situation that you'd like a response to.
UPDATE/CORRECTION: Pose a situation to which you'd like a response. Hat tip to the fat man in New Hampshire.
Okay, I've got a situation. I attended a fundraiser breakfast this morning for VA's Lt Governor. Guest speaker: Mitt Romney. I always thought he was a little too plastic. Boy, was I wrong. He was fabulous. Gave a great and thoughtful speech. Why was it great? Because none of it was 'Democrats are bad and we are good.' It was 'here are the very clear differences of philosophy between our two parties' and 'here is what we are facing as we go forward' and spent a lot of time talking particularly about EFCA and health care. It was encouraging to see that at least someone in our party can still articulate this.
ReplyDeleteI walked out of breakfast with my boss (a right-leaning independent often influenced by his liberal wife-their yard boasted both a McCain and an Obama sign last fall) and asked him what he thought. He opined he was impressed but wasn't sure about his future since he thought Romney would be viewed as a retread. I disagree, but what does anyone else think? (Yes, I know Reagan was a retread, but that was a different time).
Hey CW--how's the job search comin'?
ReplyDeleteIs there a bat in Gotham city, and if so, how much is he pulling down?
ReplyDeleteSally,
ReplyDeleteThe American voters in their wisdom rejected Mitt Romney because he was the only candidate with executive experience in both the private and public sectors. He was the only candidate with experience in turning around failing enterprises.
In this time of a failing economy the American voter chose a man who had never held an executive position and had little to no experience in the private sector.
They probably wont choose Romney next time either because when President Obama gets finished they will not be able to afford the gasoline to drive to the polls.
Anon--fine, thanks for asking. Trying to figure out if I want to go out on my own or do it for someone else. Getting close to a decision.
ReplyDeleteOK, it is Saturday as I leave this little pip. Lookee here to see what Pravda - yes Pravda - has to say about our descent into hell: Pravda
ReplyDeleteSally--with respect to Romney, I think he's still got legs. Anyone who wishes to challenge Obama in 12 is going to need a few things to break his way, and he's going to have to have an articulate view of the future. Romney's capable of creating that view, and it sounds like you heard some of it.
