The President has nominated Governor Jon Huntsman of Utah to be our new Ambassador to China. A great move by the President---Huntsman is eminently qualified, and oh yeah, one of the more attractive possible Republican challengers in 2012.....
A great choice. And a great rationale cited by GOV Huntsman for accepting the offer:
"When the president of the United States asks you to step up and serve in a capacity like this, that, to me, is the end of the conversation and the beginning of the obligation to rise to the challenge."
This is the beginning of a restoration of bipartisanship - or better yet nonpartisanship - in foreign policy that the nation desperately needs and that the Bush Presidency did so much to destroy, alas.
Would that it is the beginning of a restoration of bipartisanship - or better yet nonpartisanship, but with people like Nancy Pelosi who are willing to put politics and party above country, we have a long journey ahead.

ReplyDeleteKeep your friends close, your enemies closer. Yes I know Utah is closer than China but Huntsman now "works" for President Obama.
