I'm joining you in crazyville. When I saw how many comments there on her article, I figured there would be quite a number levying criticism upon her. Wrong. There was veritable unanimous support of her "bravery." I'm dumbstruck. I don't doubt for one second that there are some racists among those who oppose President Obama's policies, but to read her article and the comments, you'd think that this is a hidden GOP platform plank.
In the spirit of Birthers and Truthers, I dub these folks, "Racers."
Where do you see the argument that disagreement in of itself = racism? I see shocking and vitriolic disrespect, the likes of which we've not seen elsewhere = racism, and argument to be considered and agreed with or disagreed with. But, no, I don't see disagreement = racism.
"But, fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy!" Really? Perhaps she should have stuck with the thorazine.
CW, you must be the last human being not residing on the Upper East Side who still reads this harpy. She can't scoop anything anymore simply because she's too old to engage in her kind of journalism; you know, trade hummers for information. So now she just prints rubbish. Like here, she sets up a straw man as an excuse to trash Wilson. Of course it's just obvious Wilson is a neanderthal genocidal racist from the sticks who's daughter is his step-grandmother. He's blatantly slandering our urbane, sophisticated and erudite President in the most heinous way. Plus did I mention, he's a RACIST!
This old battle ax is about a relevant as Helen Thomas just not as good looking. So I say, SCREW HER, and join the thousand man march.
I was a bigot, I hated Catholics. I figured if you couldn't play country music or annoy deadly reptiles in church, hell what's the use in going? Then I married a Catholic. I don't drink shine anymore, now I drink Jameson. I have grown.

ReplyDeleteWith apologies to Samuel Johnson.
ReplyDeleteThe cry of racist or racism is often the last refuge of scoundrels who do not wish to be faced with the truth.
Robert--Smooth--there's no charge of racism in Maureen Dowd's words. Move along.

With Friends Like Maureen Dowd, Obama Doesn’t Need Enemies
ReplyDeleteBy making excuses for his missteps and slandering his opponents as racists, the president's cheerleaders don't help him; they hurt him.

Then Kayne must be racist.
ReplyDeleteMore evidence of craziness.

Does this mean that the 16% who voted for him, but no longer support him were actually racists but forgot they were racisits when they voted for him?
ReplyDeleteGood grief.
