Reid doesn't have 60 votes to override the filibuster. Unless one of the Mainers (Collins, Snowe) defects), the Public Option is dead. But I think Reid knew that it would all along--he just needed to bring it up, so that it can die.
When I see Lieberman do things like this I am reminded of that other Connecticut politician who was such a pain in the ass to his own party. I am referring of course to Lowell Weicker. Bill Buckley once described him as a turd in the Republican punch bowl, and so it is with Lieberman.
