Interesting little story here from Roll Call...seems that Montana Senator Max Baucus, he of Senate healthcare fame, was carrying on an affair with lawyer Melodee Hanes at the time he pushed for her nomination as US Attorney in Montana.
If the supplied chronology is to be believed, Hanes worked for Baucus since 2003, but that their professional relationship became something more personal only after the Senator "informally separated" from his wife in March of 2008.
Ms. Hanes' name was one of three that Baucus supplied to the Obama Administration for the US Attorney position.
UPDATE: WaPost covers it, page 3.
Yeah, their relationship only become personal after the separation. I'm buying that. Wonder how much coverage this will get.

Against the backdrop of Legislative, Executive and, what the heck, let's throw in the Fourth Estate, media dismantling of our national way of life, this is of such insignificance that to chase it any further will only distract the attention from where it should be: squarely on the pillaging that is occurring in broad daylight inside a circle of no more than 1 mile radius inside our nation's capital. I can just see Mme Speaker, SML and POTUS giggling with anticipation as republicans begin swirling around this juicy decoy.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice site you've got there, Reaganite Republican--I've added you to my link list. Appreciate a return.
ReplyDeleteI blame Pfizer. If it wasn't for Viagra this idiot wouldn't have a girlfriend (unless she could play checkers).
