Robert Kuttner's a pretty reliable lefty and I think he reaches some poor conclusions on "tactics"...but his strategic criticisms of the Obama Presidency are spot on.
How wonderful would it be if Scott Brown wins in Massachusetts, causing Rahm Emanuel to resign and Nancy Pelosi to be thrown overboard by House Dems. Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

Scott Brown wins, Rahm Emanuel resigns and Nancy Pelosi gets thrown overboard.
ReplyDeleteI have a dream.
I believe that possibly, Nancy's days are numbered. Just the fact that we are where we are today with the election in MA holding health care in the balance is proof positive that Nancy and Harry have not managed this thing well. Harry is done as well, but we already knew that. He will be gone by the ballot. Nancy will simply be replaced as her party has lost confidence in her.
ReplyDeleteHad she worked out a plan that could include a hand full of Republicans, this thing would be signed sealed and delivered by now, or regardless of one vote. Instead she stood the line and made it polarizing and a death knell for her party. Stand by 2010 and 2012.
Ironically, the best possible thing for Nancy at this point would be a Brown win and Health Care dieing on the vine. If passed it will sink the Dem party.
