Tom Friedman does a
pretty good job here talking about the conditions for entrepreneurship to thrive in the US. In fact, I don't find fault with much he says here. But I do find myself wondering how he explains his
slobbering fascination with the centrally managed autocracy in China. Are we supposed to believe that atmosphere is more conducive to entrepreneurship?
Friedman is a man in conflict with himself. His reasoning ability is first rate, but in his heart he is a leftist. He's like some mad Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde schizoid character. One day he makes perfect sense the next day he sounds like Joe Conason.
ReplyDeleteFriedman is good here, but he misses the wide swings in entrepreneurial proclivity between different groups of immigrants. From Capitolism
ReplyDeleteScott Shane writes a article worth reading on immigration and entrepreneurship. He argues that the small disparity between immigrant entrepreneurs and native-born entrepreneurs does not warrant policies designed to increase immigration as a way to spur American entrepreneurship.
This is the second article of Scott Shane I have posted. Both have contained original perspectives on data and their implications. That’s exactly the kind of thinking and writing I enjoy. I will keep an eye out for more of his writings.
