Today in history (1945) the USS Indianapolis was sent to the bottom by a Japanese sub. The sailors spent three or four days floating in the open ocean accompanied by an extremely voracious group of White Tip Sharks (NOT what you want).
ReplyDeleteNo one noticed they hadn't arrived at their port-of-call as the war was ending so everybody was drunk and shagging their brains out. They were finally spotted by a PBY that just happened to be flying by (probably on a beer run).
About 1200 men were on the ship, about 900 went into the water, about 300 came out. R.I.P.
