Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) has an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal today that contains a lot of sense--and also probably really, really pisses off his Dem friends (that's ok, he pissed Repubs off when he was one of us). Key sentence here:
"Beyond our continuing obligation to assist those African-Americans still in need, government-directed diversity programs should end."
Go the distance Senator--end the programs---period.
I was typing in the FatBoy post, when I saw you pop this up. Webb is really a Republican anyway, but this cannot be good news for the current administration. And while I am at it, what are the odds, the hard math statistics, that all four Sailors of the year are female, and three of those four are ethnic minorities. You are going to tell me that with a straight face, and expect me to internalize and support the fact that this is an honest outcome? You expect me to believe, Big Navy, that there were no Special Operators, or Special Boat Operators, or Rescue Swimmers, who, in a Navy at war, either took lives or saved them depending on rating, that were nominated/more qualified/ or were more deserving than these 4? I do not denigrate the 4 women, they are innocent. Two words: Stacked Deck.
ReplyDeleteGood for Webb. Don't you wonder what motivated him to write this NOW?
