I haven't watched the video of this speech, but the text (as printed here in NRO) is phenomenal. Daniels is a bit soft on social issues for many social conservatives (who vote in primaries), but his fiscal discipline is second to none. He's succeeded in the private sector, he's succeeded in the federal government and he's succeeded as a state executive. I'd say he's the real deal. Besides, as one can plainly see, he's not wasting a lot of molecular energy supporting a bunch of excess height.
I watched & enjoyed it. He's not Obama when it comes to oratory, but he did make some great points. One, in a subtle fashion, about the importance of reaching out a beyond a traditional conservative audience--and also made a great point about the tragedy of being in power and screwing it up. I love the guy.
ReplyDeleteThere were some good CPAC speeches this year. I loved Herman Cain's, too, but surprisingly, it was Rand Paul who I thought delivered the best one.
Click on the link to NRO and you get the piece on your appearance before the committee. cheesy
ReplyDeleteA regrettable error, but yes, cheesy.
ReplyDeleteWasn't crazy about George Will's intro, all this Lincoln worship bull. But Mitch is the real deal. We're spoiled by choice this go round. There are a lot of good candidates and think about it, the next President has the same opportunity Reagan had, to put things right. In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king so if he's only barely competent by comparison he'll look like a genius.
ReplyDeleteAnd why won't Palin speak at CPAC?
