Well folks, here it is again, your chance to blow off steam. Here's a little from me....waaa, waaaa, waaaa. I'm not exercising, I'm eating poorly, and I have a cold that's dragging me down.
I've always been in favor of some kind of a foreign national death toll conversion chart. It comes in handy when you hear about an earthquake in Iran and an entire city falls down and they say that 20,000 people were killed and you wanted to find out how many Americans that was equal to, sort of like currency conversion.
I would like to thank out friends in the Middle East for establishing the exchange rate yesterday of roughly 1000 to 1.
I like Cain's 9-9-9 plan well enough and Arthur Laffer said yesterday it was a viable scheme, although one of many that would work better than the current system. And at least the guy is talking about tax reform unlike the next loser in line, Romney. But I'm not thrilled about a national sales tax that keeps the income tax (and the IRS) in place. The FairTax makes better sense.
After all, with the 9-9-9 you are creating a totally new revenue stream and down the road when another psychotic braindead prez or Congress comes along, the next thing you know we're France.
I say eliminate the IRS altogether. A consumption tax makes a hell of a lot more sense. Plus, idiots like Warren Buffett then won't be able to scream their taxes aren't high enough all the while owing the IRS a cool billion.
I watched Cain on CNN last night, and something that shocked me was he was discussing 9-9-9, and also had a proposal for, say Detroit, for 3-3-3. I think that would just perpetuate the suckiness of Detroit, free market, etc. Can one of you smart guys run with this?
God bless your frequent contributor who seems to feel the hearing aid cartel is out to screw the aurally impaired, but as for the suggestion last week that hearing aids be sold at the electronics counter of the local Walmart, I have to disagree.
I was at my local Wallyworld last night buying a new iPod and the gentleman waiting on me had more in common with the Occupy Wall Street crowd than he did with a trained medical professional. A quick scan of the internet comes up with several alternatives (I like the Lee Major's Rechargeable Bionic Ear for $299 on Amazon) that might be more within his budget.
I want a girl with a short skirt and a looooooonggggggg.... Jacket. Learning to play that riff on my blue Telecaster that the Fair Lea Ann gave me. Austin vs. Westlake football tonight, with my son in the percussion pit. Getting up early to stalk a sunrise photo of a bridge with Claudia. And a 20-year old son who despite not attending an elite university and graduating with $250k in debt and a Womyn's Studies major, is earning nearly 6 figures, lives debt free on his own, and is happy in his life. And a loving dog. Good Friday indeed!
My company has been doing well which means we've been working a lot harder lately as new business comes in. So we need more people--in other words, we're hiring. And we are mainly hiring recent college grads.
Where do you go to find a bunch of college grads who say they need jobs?
No, not under makeshift tents in Central Park or beneath misspelled placards along Wall Street. Oddly, these top performers appear to be confused because we're finding them all at something called "job fairs." I wonder if the Occupiers Cum Laude have ever heard of these fun-sounding events. .
I am ready for the State of Wisconsin to run the table on the major sporting events -- Brewers win the World Series, Badgers win the NCAA National Championship, Packers win the Super Bowl. Aside from Michigan, they are the only state with a shot. Add in a Paul Ryan run at the Presidency, and you'd have the "Tiger Slam."
Memo to L. Feringo regarding selling hearing aids at Wal-Mart. One does not have to be a "trained medical professional" to sell hearing aids. The educational requirement to be a licensed audiologist is a high school diploma. Our illustrious FDA makes it sound like these "audiologists" are some kind of experts in their field. Another major weak point of our Food and Drug Administration.

ReplyDeleteThe Hammer hit the nail on the head (pun intended)The FAIR TAX is the way to go.
ReplyDeleteNavy Austin - you too must love "Cake!"
ReplyDeleteI'm only going to complain today about the continuing gloom and doom that is visible to the naked eye and that completely "f's" my work schedule.
PS - Read Krauthammer in todays' WaPo - he's most definitely not BAPFM.

Dr. Krauthammer was spot on, CCE...thanks for the vector...
ReplyDeleteMudge, I stole your comment and posted it on Facebook.
