West Wing Entrance. A very cool day. |
It was really a treat to be invited, and doubly so that we didn't do the meeting in the Old Executive Office Building (been there, done that) --a beautiful old place, but not the "show".
One of the things I came to learn during my final tour in the Navy was the degree to which where matters of foreign policy and defense are concerned, the adults are generally in charge atop both parties. Folks working on this National Security Staff are no exception. Very smart, very collegial, listening intently. This was an all time great day.
Good work Bryan, I'm proud to know you for multiple reasons. This just adds to the reasons. I love you brother, congrats and well done. I know there are more great things to come. Enjoy the Peach Bowl my friend
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are still rocking the standard issue steno pad.
ReplyDeleteWho took your picture? Did you bring a camera and hand it to one of the sentries on duty, or does the WH have a photog on retainer to take souvenir pictures of every visitor leaving the West Wing Entrance?
ReplyDeleteMy camera, taken by fellow meeting participant.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you still read the blog.
I never stopped.
ReplyDeleteYou could have asked them why I didn't get selected for dinner with POTUS.

ReplyDeleteProud to know you! That must have been a great day.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree on your assessment of those who are working at the top levels of government. Recalls one critic of the TV show The West Wing, who said that the show did a brillant job of capturing the white house staffers of any party: ferociously smart, informed, passionate, driven, competitive - and, collegial, patriotic and duty-driven. Not just adults, but pretty great adults.
I don't expect this to be your last trip there.
I would have ordered a Heineken and peanuts regardless.
ReplyDeleteWhy aren't you wearing your Romney campaign button?
ReplyDeleteGood on ya mate. Remember there is no limit to up.
