What's got you glum, Basil? Your week off of social media create an "inmates running the asylum" quality to your blog? Did the world not seem adequately impoverished without your constant Facebook and Twitter insights? Complain here, all who seek solace!
I will officially return to social media this evening, after one week's hiatus. The time off enabled a good bit of reading and leisure, as I conducted a "staycation" here at home.
Sadly for you Hammer, we're over two months past my 50th Birthday weigh in goal of 159.9 lbs, and I weighed in today at 155.8. So sorry to be thus far depriving you of your desired ballooning.
I very much admire this clerk in Kentucky, she's got the guts our political leaders lack. Agree or disagree she's sticking by her religious convictions and we as a country once respected people like that. Not anymore.
ReplyDeleteBesides, gays are not harmed, they can go to the next county over. This about intimidation and power, nothing more.
What I'd like to see happen is the 31 Republican Governors get together and issue an "executive order" to all state employees that affirms their religious objections. In other words if a clerk doesn't want to marry gays then that's up to the clerk.
Marriage is a STATE issue and the SCOTUS has overstepped their bounds. Furthermore there is at least one gay on the bench, she should have recused herself.
What, that's outrageous you say? This can't be done! This is ILLEGAL! The clerks have an obligation to follow the law.
Oh yeah, try exercising your CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to own a firearm in Chicago or Washington, DC. Somehow they find a way...we need to follow their example.
We are a nation of laws, not of men (and women). If your conscience does not allow you to carry out the law, then you must quit. I don't like the law, but I don't get to pick and choose. Neither do the Dems in DC and Chicago, mind you. They are just as wrong.
ReplyDeleteThat's all true CW, but when the other branches of government won't stand up to the courts, which is how the system was designed, then it's up to the people.
ReplyDeleteIf you can tell me the difference between an all powerful judiciary and tyranny, I'd love to hear it. Sooner or later we have to challenge these people, may as well be now.
Furthermore, if this "gay marriage" decision has ANYTHING to do with "the law", please tell me how. It's is judicial activism creating law out of thin air...plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteWhen are you going to learn CW? Obama said it himself, you don't bring a knife to a gun-fight. If you want to win, you better start winning. Your principles do you credit, but it's all talk and no action. If you want the kind of government Jefferson and Madison gave us you'll have to fight for it...and all is fair in love and war.

ReplyDeleteThe Hammer and Marco Rubio see eye to eye and CW takes the Progressive Democrat position? What is the world coming to?
