LIVE BLOG THE VP DEBATE!!!!!

Hey everyone, let's give the live-blog thing a go for tonight's VP debate. I'll be firmly planted in front of the TV with my laptop, ready to comment in-stream. Looking forward to your comments too!

  1. I'm in! And if we can get through it without turning off the TV in sheer pity for Sarah, we should do post-game analysis from various listening posts-we know Mudge is fond of MSNBC, but it would be good to hear from Fox News, CNN and PBS as well. Wait-I guess we'd get the same thing from CNN and MSNBC.
A campaign presently on life support might be permanently toast by 10:30 tonight. Man, am I nervous.

  2. sally - just consulted with mudge and he confirmed that he is not "fond" of any "news" outlet except "newshour" and, of course, the only other legitimate news source, the colbert report. the rest seems more like thinly-sliced entertainment sandwiched tightly between very large pieces of advertising toast. and he doesn't like more bread than stuffing in his sandwiches or his news. curious, did you find yourself with gastric butterflies leading up to governor palin's debut at the gop convention as well? maybe that is why she has a potential advantage tonight. biden, not particularly endowed with grace, is going to be precariously straddling the fence separating bullying and patronizing. biden does not possess sufficient temperant balance to do that while calling to his strengths. then, it appears you are in company with many who share low expectations for governor palin. then, when she does an above average human performance, people are not only amazed, they are moved. plus, she's a babe. you don't want her to fail because of that do you?
oh, for cw, mudge will be on the road to the southern-most battle ground state tonight so not likely he'll be able to play. even if he was, he was going to watch this debate on pbs (wouldn't want to upset sally and/or capt midnight once again and get all of us brought up on charges of "civility, failure to comply"). don't you just hate it when people write in third person? i know mudge sure does.

  3. I do not like Katie Couric and saw no use in watching her Palin interview. But I was listening to bits of it on a radio show and Palin could not even give her a straight answer when asked what newspapers and magazines she read.

CW, Palin is little different from the pharmabarbies you commented on earlier in your blogging career. They have looks but no brains; giving canned speeches approved by their marketing departments.

I am afraid that we are doomed to a disasterous 4 years under socialist control.

  6. Well, as scared as I am, we have to remember a thing or two-she's bombed her Couric interviews, but for crying out loud, she's the governor of a state. I think that gives her a built in advantage over a senator--she has to have some grasp of domestic issues becuase she has to deal with them regularly. And she's managed a huge budget and has thousands of employees statewide to manage. My point is, she simply CANNOT be as dingy as she's come across. She CANNOT. Her struggle will be just finding a way to articulate that experience.
Has anyone seen the youtube clip of Ifill's analysis of Palin after her RNC speech? She clearly has some disdain for her.
By the way, 'friend of Mudge', please tell your buddy to scare up some GOP votes in Florida. It appears we're going to need them.
