Good News in Capture of Taliban Figure

Big congratulations to the Obama Administration for the recent capture of the Taliban's #2 guy in Pakistan. I know, I know--some of you will say "but it wasn't the Administration, it was the Special Forces, the CIA and the ISI who did it". Yeah, yeah I know. But if they screwed it up (can you say "Tora Bora"?) we sure would all be piling on.

That said, a couple of questions are worth pondering:

1. Will this gentleman be Mirandized, afforded a lawyer, and then transferred to a federal prison? Or will we do the right thing (which is what the Bush folks would have done), and leave him with the Paks who will likely extract a bevy of fine intelligence under their own regime of "persuasion"? I think the latter, no? Yet this Administration continues to try and tell us why it is they are better on the War on Terror than the previous one. Truth is, they are Bush III when it comes to these matters--mostly.

2. I wonder why it is we feel the need to broadcast things like this? Why not wait a few weeks--interrogate the BeJesus out of this guy WITHOUT ALL HIS HOMIES KNOWING THAT HE IS IN CUSTODY. Wouldn't that be smarter? Wouldn't we have a better chance of closing in on his cohorts if they aren't "spooked" that he's ratting them out?

  1. I don't know. News like this would have more impact if they didn't capture the #2 guy every six weeks. By the way, do any of these number twos have any idea where #1 is? Or are they just Mr. Second Banana that nobody tells anything?

  2. It's not the terrorist's "homies" knowing about his capture that is the problem--it's Obama's homies, homies like Holder and a host of other sympathizers who seek first to apologize for the Bush Administration then to grant all the comforts and protections of an American citizen to those who want most to destroy the American citizenry.

The reason this is being touted is to respond to the thrashings by Mark Thiessen and company to expose the Administration's use of drones to kill every terrorist they find...even when the CIA or DoD had the means to capture them and had requested to do so. I have no problem with a terrorist being killed, especially if it is slowly in front of his buds, but the issue is that without the means to hold them in an interrogation facility and to limit their interrogations to that afforded by the Geneva convention, for which these international thugs do not qualify, there is little option but to kill them or bring them home to Eric the Terrorists' Pal where we can spend more tax dollars protecting them (and turn them over to ACORN to register as Dem Voters). The reason we have no other option is because The One is closing Gitmo and has issued an exec order limiting interrogations to the Army Field Manual's guidelines which, as I said above, are born of the Geneva Convention for lawful combatants. So what is the Admin doing with this guy that they did allow to be captured? Oh, their letting the PakistAHNis handle him. And handle him they will. The One's own State Department report on Human Rights indicated that Pakistan falls considerably short on the scale of human rights protections. This from the same person who STILL sits in the camp that the Bush Administration should be tried for War Crimes. His hypocrisy knows no limits.

  3. The New York Times held off on reporting this because of the sensitivity. However, his "homies" were aware of his arrest so it became less sensitive.
