Little Ole Me Quoted in the First Section of USA Today

Well, I'll be!

  1. That shoulda been me they were quoting. They want a good quote I'll give 'em a good quote. God knows I am a helluva lot more quotable than you.

And just what the heck is a USS Bulkeley? Sounds like a nickname you give your mother-in-law. The dude in question was commanding the ENTERPRISE, one of the biggest, baddest dogs in the yard and they go to you, a glorified tug boat skipper for comment?

But I have to say I did like what you said. They should have just reprimanded the guy. We spent a lot of money on his training and he's been an outstanding officer (by virtue of his position) so why throw that all away over one indiscretion. It ain't like he committed a crime. And like most Navy guys he's working to keep that latent homosexual thing under control (contrary to what the video may suggest), so why not give him a pass?

  2. Was looking you up to report (as a fellow Lenape Alum) that I saw this at lunch today, but then I realized I was too embarrassed to reveal that I was reading USA Today (which is free at my gym). Ahem. Anyway, why not give some views on the Chinese modernization (the J-20) on page one of the Wall Street Journal (which I read every morning, but didn't quote you in the Navy story). Chinese a threat, or no worries?

  3. The Chinese are a concern. The J-20's a nice piece of gear, though i'm unsure if its engines are up to snuff.

Silly Hammer, only the Brits name their ships after mothers-in-law; see "HMS Battleaxe".
