If Rush Goes Down, So Do You!

I plead nolo contendere that Rush Limbaugh made some dumb comments about Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke. He obviously used language that could be easily spun by a corrupt media and gave ammunition to various Soros funded interest groups (more aptly termed political terrorists) to target his sponsors and drive him from the airways. Dumb comments (?), yes indeed they were, but they weren't necessarily untrue.

Now forget about the fact that this whole contraception issue was ginned up from the beginning by a corrupt media colluding with leftist Democrats. Forget the double standard applied to Rush as opposed to John Stewart or Bill Maher who called Sarah Palin a -unt and questioned the paternity of her handicapped child. Forget about the fact that not a whit of criticism ever comes Stewart's or Maher's way EVER because they are "comedians", even though leftist politicians and media routinely refer to Rush as an "entertainer" when it suits them but when it doesn't he is a hate-monger to be ridiculed and silenced if possible. Yes forget all that, it's to be expected, and unfortunately we've grown tolerant and dare I say accepting of this kind of double standard.

No dear friends, my problem is not with the mainstream leftist media, it is with you. You can criticize Rush if you like, that is entirely up to you. We can have us a good old fashioned "I hate Rush party", just like on Daily Kos or Media Matters. And you'll be able to tell yourself you're above base politics and that your intellectual integrity demands you call out the likes of Rush Limbaugh. Yes we can go down that road...and you'll be next.

Here's the thing, nobody is perfect, and in case you haven't noticed we are at war with people who don't share our values of freedom and liberty or your chivalrous view of politics. Their attitude is to win by any and all means necessary (as in don't bring a knife to a gun fight). When someone on their side screws up they circle the wagons and protect them if they can, and that is exactly what we need to do. Politics is rough business and truth or justice has very little to do with it. When the day comes when Bill Maher can't get a job on the midnight to three shift at KSZL AM in Barstow, California, then that's the day I'll start attacking my own. So you can be high-minded all you want, but if Rush loses we all lose.

  2. Sorry Hammer, much of your your whole argument rests on the "they do it, so we need to also" line. For whatever reason--elitism maybe--I've always considered us better than them. That is, Bill Maher can be foul and mean--and I chalk it up to the nature of liberalism. They are creatures of the heart and the temper, rather than of the mind. So when someone on our side uses the kind of language Rush used, it hurts even more. From whom much is given, much is expected. Goes for the brain and character too.

  3. I don't disagree with you on a certain level, but at some point practicality must prevail. The time for reasonable debate may be coming to an end. I know you don't like Rush, but the guy moves the ball down the field. You're not going to reach everyone quoting John Locke. The left understands that, not everyone on our side does.

Looks I'm not asking you to defend anybody, but in a situation like this just vote present. Guys like me will get down in the mud for you. Every hockey team needs a goon.

  4. Nothing makes me want to become less civil than a liberal telling me to be moreso.

Time and time again, from Don Imus to Tracey Morgan, we've seen that an apology is never enough for offended liberals. Pol Pot style re-education is the only thing they are satisfied with. I'd say "screw 'em", but then I guess we'd have to supply the free condoms too.

hammer. if this be war, what isn't acceptable then? where do you draw the line. afterall how can we let something inconvenient like principles stand in the way of preservation of our freedoms?

  7. Thank you for the enlightenment, Anon. I never realized that. Man, time for some serious introspection.

  8. The never ending ranting of the liberal left and their Siamese twin the main stream media about Rush Limbaugh's at best disgusting and at least ungentlemanly comments about the liberal activist Ms Fluke have been amazing in their demagogic, hate filled vitriol.

I doubt there is (with apologies to Marvin Gaye) any mountain high enough any valley low enough or any river wide enough with measurements that would surpass the liberal left's unbelievable double standard and hypocrisy. Anybody no matter their education or lack thereof who could defend these McCarthyesque activities should be stripped of their voting privileges as a protective measure for our once great country.

I read this blog on occasion, and find myself really interested in the discourse that I see within both the comments and posts that concern the liberal "double standard." I myself take part in many "radical" leftist communities that engage in a lot of conversations in regards to the "isms" that we see, racism, sexism, ableism, what have you, and when a member of the left uses such misogynistic words such as "cunt," I find these communities to be absolutely outraged and have rather wide discussions as to how unacceptable such language is. I despise Bill Maher's bigotry as deeply as I despise Rush Limbaughs- and find myself no-so-jokingly referring to pundits such as Maher as "brocialists"- leftists who claim to fight for equality, but aren't very good when it comes to walking the walk. This wasn't as well thought out as I would have liked to to appear, but I thought it would be valid to chime in and say that the more fringe leftists who are ignored by the larger media are EXTREMELY critical of members of our own.
