I feel the need to point out how these researchers defined "skinny" and "slightly chubby"- a Body Mass Index of 18.5 or less and 25-30, respectively. For perspective, here's what a BMI of 18.5 and 25 look like, according to the National Institutes of Health:
PK--yep, I've looked at the BMI...I'm at 28.5 now. In order to get to the highest end of the "normal" range, I have to be at 159 pounds. I remember 159....I was in great shape at 159 yet that is one pound from "overweight".
I've seen some scales that say "ideal" weight for me is 146. Are you kidding me?
I suspect that the folks who suggest your ideal weight is 146 are unaware that you are carrying at least 10 more pounds of brain than the average ted. :)

ReplyDelete5'2" = 100 / 136 lbs
5'6" = 115 / 155 lbs
5'8" = 122 / 164 lbs
5'10" = 129 / 174 lbs
6'0" = 137 / 184 lbs
Clearly, Kate Moss, Keira Knightley, and Calista Flockhart are in trouble.
Please note that the findings did NOT indicate that slightly chubby people live longer than normal weight people.
I know, I know...I'm taking this way too seriously!
In summary, keep up with the weight loss program, Bryan. We need you around for as long as possible!
NOW THEY TELL ME!!!
ReplyDeleteThis after I have been on a low fat diet for a month and a half and have been power walking 30 minutes every day to lose weight.
Bottom line; we all die some day.
