Who Said Politics Isn't Civil?

See if you can tease out the underlying message contained in this Gov. Schwarzenegger veto of legislation championed by Bay Area Democrat Assemblyman Tom Ammiano. Ammiano recently invited the Governor to “kiss my gay ass” at a party fundraiser.

  1. I read the underlying message as just the same he received, tailored to his own personal situation:

    Dear Legislature,
    Kiss my muscular, not-gay ass.
    Love, Ahnuld

The fact that the letter is unsigned is even more of a slap in their faces. He's also calling them an irrelevant bunch of time-wasters.

  2. I think I see it, if it has something to do with the alignment of letters. Though could that be a coincidence?

  3. Right. And when they want the rest of the country to bail out their gay, overspending, irresponsible, pox ridden asses they can f-off! Just let them tax those super rich liberals in San Fran. and all the ultra-wealthy Hollywood left. See how damned popular they are then.
California has always been the cutting edge state. Look at California and you would see America's future. And so it is.

  4. Ding ding! We have a winner!

Sally picked up on the alignment of the first letter in the first word of each line in paragraphs 2 &3. Coincidence? If it is, then it's an amazing one. Then again, it could all be a case of clever trickery in this age of internet 'truthiness'.

For her sleuthing, Sally wins an advance copy of the upcoming CW autobiography "The Conservative Wahoo: Blogging for the Halibut".

  5. GHD is a pox on this blog, even if he has a valid point occasionally.

  6. Is there a prize for the most comment postings?

  7. Blow it out your ass. This is a blog, it's for comments. That's what it's about, that's its purpose. If something interests me I will comment and if you don't like it tell CW to throw me off.

  8. Two cheers for Greg "The Hammer" Dail. Faithful readers know that the Hammer and I don't always see eye to eye, and there's no doubt that some of his rhetoric is more heated than I'd choose myself. But just when I think he's stepped over the line on something, he throws in a post of real insight, the kind of thing that makes me glad he reads this blog and spends time commenting. I think the debate over on the Afghanistan thread is a good one. Where The Hammer gets into (rhetorical) trouble is when he states something as if it were irrefutable truth--even if it IS often true. Clearly, history is replete with examples of generals who failed to capitalize on the weakness or unpreparedness of an opponent because they were indecisive. But history is also replete with examples of generals getting their clocks cleaned when they go impetuously into situations that DID NOT REQUIRE IMMEDIATE ACTION. My point is, both sides of this argument have good points. The Hammer made his points well, and so did Anon(X2). I made a point in my post that it was good that the President was taking his time--I'd be a fool on a blog such as this to think someone wouldn't write in and take issue with that view. The Hammer did, and it got a good debate going. So as long as the Hammer keeps it civil and relevant (see the first blog post from June of 2008 for ground rules), he's a welcome part of the group.

  9. Thanks CW. You are a scholar and a gentleman, and you're right. A blog should be a Socratic dialogue. A pursuit of truth. A place to bounce opinions and ideas off individuals with similar interests. I fully admit I fly off the handle on occasion, that is one of my faults, but I am always, always willing to listen to reason.
