House Dems Look to Kill DC School Vouchers

I'll keep saying it until we win back the Congress....elections have consequences. The Republican controlled Congress was successful in getting a voucher pilot program started in the District, one that enabled economically disadvantaged kids to get up to $7500 a year to attend private school. House Democrats are moving to use procedural tactics to force the program to be re-authorized before the completion of its pilot program...surely in an effort to kill it.

Where are the President's kids going? Private school. Attorney General Holder? Private School. Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice? Private school. The list goes on and on of Democrats who bleed for the public school system, so long as their own children don't have to rely on it. Vouchers are a great way to offer poor kids a path out of failed schools. But not in a Democrat-controlled Congress...

  1. And the way Democrats get virtually any of their welfare-esque bills passed is by whining 'but it's for the children.' They invoke it all the time as a means of exacting shame. I guess DC children are exempt from their concern.

  2. Well good on the Washington Post for covering this (as opposed to its usual endorsement of most things Dem)...and good on John Boehner and his staff for shining spotlights on the roaches running around inside the dark corners of Congress. Is there any way to show Madame Speaker's complicity in this?

  3. By the way, Bryan, what was the story on the '!' post from yesterday? Was that like art, or poetry...were we supposed to interpret it our own way and respond accordingly? Or were you just particularly excited at that moment?

  4. And remember, Democrats only care about children once they are out of the womb.

  6. In Barack Obama's address to Congress, he made a point of emphasizing education. He pointed out that our education system is failing. I wonder what his first clue was? Could it be the kid at his Starbucks who couldn't make change when the computerized cash register went on the blink?

Why is it not widely known that Democrat is a synonym for hypocrite?

  7. I went to an Ivy league grad school, and I can't seriously remember any DEM friends of mine who attended public school - not a one.

As a public school kid, I was very much in the minority.

  8. The Opportunity Scholarship Program is part of a three-pathway education package that includes additional money for DCPS as well as public charter schools in the District.
