The Conservative Wahoo
The Blog: A compendium of thoughts on politics, world affairs, economics, pop culture and social issues, from the center right perspective of me--Bryan McGrath--a University of Virginia graduate who spent a career in the world's greatest Navy keeping my mouth shut about politics and social issues (ok, publicly keeping it shut). Those days are over! Pull up a chair and chime in where you will. Keep it clean, civil, concise and relevant.
The Fish: The fish is a "coat of arms" for the blog, symbolizing three formative influences in the life of the blog founder. The first is his experience at the University of Virginia--symbolized most importantly by the fish itself, or a caricature of a "Wahoo", the fish we have acquired as an informal nickname. Additionally there is the sword, the sword of a Cavalier. It is not wielded in a threatening manner, as this is a civil blog. But it is there, should it be needed. Thirdly, there is the influence of 21 years in the Navy--symbolized by the anchor on the Wahoo's fin (and again, the sword) . Finally, there is the bowler, tuxedo, and monocle, symbols of a refined, intellectual conservatism, or what I seek to encourage here.
The Policy: I take FULL responsibility for what I write. I will not be held responsible for the content of my comments section--as long as it is civil and passes my own inscrutable sniff tests, it will appear. If the comment offends you, that is on you.

Let me help you out with a Big Fat Wednesday Free for All post:
I hope they serve Chivas in Hell.
Poor Obama. First he goes to Martha's Vineyard and there's a hurricane. Next, two miles up the road the "lion" of the Senate dies (more like the Duckman of the Senate) and you know he's gotta go to the funeral. The guy is a whole six months on the job and he's just trying to get a little vacation time in and he can't catch a break. It sucks to be him.
I'll take 3 fingahs of Chivas, with just a splash of wahtah...eedy, beedy, loddy do, loddy dah.
Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you did to your country by supporting Obama for president.
In my estimation Obama (notice that I didn't use the word "President") is the most inept and contemptible individual ever to hold the office. He has no background, no family ties, no "dynasty" of leadership upon which to rely. He had no ties to anyone in particular. He is an aberration.
I notice where Teddy Kennedy finally bit the dust...Good!!! Now he is out of congress and maybe we can get some real work done in the absence of the "Liberal Lion" from Massachusetts. He is the one who set Obama on track for the presidency, in my opinion, by virtue of his endorsement of the man.
He is also the man who took such great pains to enable 18-year olds to vote....Vote??? Most of them don't even know how to wipe their fannies much less keep up with the issues. These are the same people 18-26 year old college students who made up the 12 million votes given to Obama to take him to the presidency. Those kids didn't even know WHY they wanted to vote for Obama. They just heard the words "Change" and "Yes, We Can." They didn't know what they wanted to change and they didn't know that "Yes, we can" actually translated into "Yes, we can turn the United States of America into the United Socialist States of America."
While I would NEVER advocate the use of violence to rid the nation of an inept (or stupid) president (like Obama), I would advocate for the elections of 2010 to replace the Senate and the House with well informed and responsible Republicans and the 2012 elections to vote this clown out of office.
You know, I always thought that the man elected to the office of the President was a wise and well informed American born man.
Obama is, as you probably know, none of the above. He is a puppet of the Chicago Machine who pull his strings at will. I think he is a racist and left wing liberal communist sympathizer.
When the call comes for us to vote him out of office beginning in 2010, let's all get together and work to replace this terrible government...If we can nullify him in congress in 2010, we can make him a lame duck by 2012. Maybe the Blue Dog Democrats will help us.
