Oooohhh, Kyle! What a cutie.
Well, thank you CW for recognizing my service.
"NAV, what were you thinking? Either you folded the chart under itself to make the timing work, or you traded some magic beans for the iron triangle of Time/Speed/Distance. Either way, the CO is going to be pissed for the next 5 days every time I see him (10x times/day) or when ever your name is mentioned (more often). So which was it, the fold or the magic beans?"
Please translate BigFred's comment for the non-veteran, prone-to-seasickness folks...
Thanks for the thanks CW, but I feel a little odd in such esteemed company. Generals, Commanders, Captains and Lieutenants mentioned in the same sentence with me, a lowly Spec4. Plus, all I did was sit on my ass (7 PM to 7 AM three on three off) in a microwave site occasionally working on a radio, doing a little tech control and avoiding guys like you as much possible.
But I have the peace of mind knowing that I put on my own drawers, wiped my own ass and made my own bed...unlike OFFICERS!
So Kyle relieved me as Navigator (I was the first, I was the best, accept no substitutes!) and in Bryan's face you can see the frustration of a true professional, at the top of his game (have him tell you the story about how BuPERS sent 30 some first tour department heads to be Cruiser Operations Officers, and how many survived that experiment: More Navy men have walked on the Moon than survived, and there was a lot of Air Force in that program) anyway, young M. Kyle F. has made a mistake, it is apparent in his body language and downturned face that he is guilty, Bryan is obviously agitated, and is taking notes on his ever present 3x5 card to refresh his memory when he goes to see "Dad".
