She's Still Just Not That Into You

News from the world of medicine - Germany's Boehringer Ingelheim said today that it will discontinue development of its "female desire drug" flibanserin for the treatment of Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder because of FDA requests for further support of the efficacy and safety profile of the drug. According to Wikipedia, Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder is characterized as a lack or absence of sexual fantasies and desire for sexual activity.

Is there some sort of colored ribbon for that?

Be Fruitful and Multiply

Robert Samuelson reminds us once again why we need to stay "busy".  A vibrant economy depends on replacement workers--you can import them, you can make them, or you can do both.  We need to do both.  Tax policy is a good start--and I particularly like Samuelson's inference that the monstrous mortgage deduction be reduced in favor of some more directly child/family friendly tax credit.

Sex at Oxford

Some interesting stats here, though the finding that History majors get more action than others is a well-known universal truth.

Only 81% masturbate regularly. In college. Bloody English are so boring they don't even know how to do that right.

Though I hope not to run across this tape myself, the fact that the fellow is 86 years old and was in bed with three women certainly caught my eye.

Some Tips for Tiger on the Subject of Managing a Harem

Some keen advice for Tiger--here's a snippet:

"Philandering men—even celebs—are not uniformly arrogant jerks. Those with a gift for harem management can leave a woman with warm, nostalgic feelings, an afterglow of romantic gratitude. An essential skill for men who choose to cheat, which some are lucky to be born with, is the ability to conduct a love affair without turning the "other woman" into a potential enemy."

Healthcare King of Senate Pushed For His Girlfriend's Nomination

Interesting little story here from Roll Call...seems that Montana Senator Max Baucus, he of Senate healthcare fame, was carrying on an affair with lawyer Melodee Hanes at the time he pushed for her nomination as US Attorney in Montana.

If the supplied chronology is to be believed, Hanes worked for Baucus since 2003, but that their professional relationship became something more personal only after the Senator "informally separated" from his wife in March of 2008.

Ms. Hanes' name was one of three that Baucus supplied to the Obama Administration for the US Attorney position.

UPDATE: WaPost covers it, page 3.
