In the first act of the Democratic primary season for 2016, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law a gay-marriage equality bill actually passed by both chambers of the state legislature (not imposed by the courts). Bully for New York for moving this through the political sphere rather than the judicial. Clearly, this is not a dead issue nationally, though.
Meanwhile, our Evolver-in-Chief continues to meander on the issue.
My thoughts? I've provided them many times here on the CW. Government has no place in marriage, gay or straight. Marriage should be a socio-religious issue with no legal emoluments flowing from one's marital status.

Great! now NY gays can get a life sentence too. In 30 years the whole lot of 'em will be walking around downtrodden saying "remember when they used to call us 'gay'?" Enjoy, my naive friends, enjoy!
One has to wonder why, when the majority of Americans support gay marriage, why O won't take a stand. I know he has trouble doing so on most things, but this is such an easy gift to give the lefties that he's disappointed.
Sally - No telling what a man will do when he has his mother-in-law living under the same roof. I say she is dead against it and he's not about to cross her...
OR...
A favorite of the libs is the old "me thinks thou doth protesteth too much" accusation used when someone does not support the gay agenda. Could it be that it's not the female White House interns who need to keep their guard up in this administration? How often is Bahney Fwank a guest at the White House?
Where should I invest in order to capitalize on this gay "marriage" thing?
Sally I think you may be wrong. Every time gay marriage has been voted on by the people it has failed. Every single time! Polls can be manipulated, plebiscites can't (eh...at least not as easily).
As for you CW. Marriage has been a LEGAL institution since the dawn of man. There are legal protections afforded marriages that contribute to the well-being of the family and society at large. Therefore the state has an interest in marriage. And you would throw away all those protections and treat us, at least from the state's perspective, like animals? My friend, you are nuts. And you have the audacity to talk about libertarians as crazy.
I can't believe I am saying this, but the Hammer is right!!!
"And you would throw away all those protections and treat us, at least from the state's perspective, like animals?"
A little dramatic, wouldn't you say, Hammer? But then again, apropos to this discussion...
