Great, We Won?

Before we start looking forward to all the prosperity our wise and tireless politicians have bestowed upon us, maybe we should read the fine print. I think you'll find not much has changed other than the Obama-Card now has 2.4 trillion more "No Hassle" reward points. And lest we forget, Mr. Obama doesn't have to deal with these tawdry and vulgar money issues again until after reelection.

And what was it exactly we got?

Very disappointing that this issue "goes away" until after the elections. What about the idea of a referendum? And what happened to my three days to review the legislation?

OK, but were you really prepared to have to face an economic meltdown if we defaulted? This problem (the economy) was screwed up in a day...more like 80 years. It will take a measured approach to fix it, not an overnight "balanced budget amendment" or some other buzz word solution. Like making an initial course change to avoid extremis while working the mo board solution.

I'm fully aware this was the best deal the economically lucid were likely to get. I'm also aware that this was basically a political fight with implications for the next election. However, I am somewhat encouraged by the left's apparent displeasure with the deal, but I suspect that has more to do with their being forced to deal with the Tea Party, which to them is an abhorrent perversity.

Even though it's not much, it's a start. And we'll see how all these "spending cuts" play out.
