Don’t Hate Him Because He’s Wrong…

…hate him because he’s black, or so it would seem (or not).

Now everyone's jumping into the Right-hates-Obama-because-he-is-a-black-man scrum, even irrelevant ex-presidents:

Carter should know of what he speaks. After all, he wrote the book on racism.

When Obama's poll numbers were good, I don't recall these charges being bandied about, or anyone claiming this country was seething with racism.

And Carter joining the chorus somehow lends credibility to the argument?

More wisdom from the man who gave us a radicalized Iran. Thanks but no thanks. By the way, I heard Carter's Chief of Staff Jodi Powell died, and as far as I can tell very little mention in the msm. What's up with that? Do they not want to bring up the Carter years and invite comparison? Powell was the David Axlrod of his day and it just seems odd he doesn't rate a nice front page write-up in the Post or Times, especially with Carter popping off today with his BS.
It's cultural chauvinism by you damned Yankees is what it is. Don't try to tell me different. I know a bunch of subway riding, pastrami sandwich eating anti-Southern weasels when I see 'em!

Hasn't he embarassed the country and his alma mater enough?

Again, Charges of racism are the last refuge of a person who cannot support their argument with facts.

The vast majority of Americans do judge people by their character not the color of their skin.

The vast majority of Americans do judge people by merit of their ideas not the color of their skin.

The vast majority of Americans do judge people by the way they participate in a debate not the color of their skin.

The vast majority of Americans do judge people by their manners not the color of their skin.

Familiarity breeds contempt. And the more often we hear these unjust accusations of racism the more contemptuous we become of the charge, the word and the accusers.

The American people need to put aside political party, race, color, creed, national origin and gender in favor of saying, doing and supporting what is ultimately good for all Americans rather than what will advance the wants of a few.

President Obama provided a great example of what I posted above when he called Kane West a jackass.

Did the president call Kane West a jackass because West is black? No, he judged him by his actions, not the color of his skin.

And any reasonable thinking person would come to the same conclusion; Kane west is an obvious jackass.

I don't see anyone saying that objections to the President's policies is racist? Who's saying that? Where is that charge coming from. Yes, there is racism, and yes, there are people objecting to the President and yes, some of those people are racist and yes, there isn't any rational reason why they'd disagree and so yes, their disagreement is clearly racist. See. Nothing there.

Sorry, my sarcasm alarm just went off.

Smoothfur - You forget that Mr. Obama is half caucasian. By definition then, his comments about Kanye West MUST be at least half racist. Pay attention to these important details.

One would think the worst president of my lifetime would be thankful that this up and coming worst president of my lifetime is catching so much outrage from the citizenry. But no, he seems to want to hang on to that title with a vengeance.

Mudge,
Perhaps former President Carter wants to ensure that he is remembered as the most naturally inept president we ever had. Attributing President Obama's problems to racism would allow the former president to retain that title.

When Ronald Reagan was afflicted with alzheimers, his family removed him from the public eye. It is a pity that none of the Carters will do the same for Jimmy.

Carter also wrote The Virtues of Aging and in it noted:

"When I was married at the age of 22 and relishing an active sex life, I assumed that this was a pleasure that my middle-aged parents rarely, if ever, enjoyed. Now, well past 70, Rosalynn and I have learned to accommodate each other’s desires more accurately and generously, and have never had a more complete and enjoyable relationship."

I just threw up in my mouth.

Carter is just saying what so many guilty feeling white folks and victim-mentality minorities are saying.

Example:

The RESOUNDING sentiment from HUF/PO bloggers.

What Beck, Dobbs and Limbaugh Are Really Afraid Of

Answer: Black People (and in the case of Lou Dobbs: Mexicans)

I honestly thought that at some point in our nation's history we'd move away from the race hysteria and I figured the election of a black president would be a nice time to tie a bow around that one.
