End of the Line: The Conservative Wahoo Live!

After dinner last night, I was sitting with the Kitten, enjoying the view of the Miles River through a big new set of windows.  The girls had scurried upstairs and were giggling about something or another.  We got into a conversation about some subject long since forgotten, but the bottom line was that it was a damn pleasant scene.  For a moment, I thought to myself--"this is why I left the Navy".  And then--horror.  "Damn", I said out loud--"I gotta go do my radio show."

That's not how it should be--I should be raring to go--but I wasn't.  Don't get me wrong--I love DOING the show--I simply don't like that it never seems to fall at a convenient time for me, that it requires preparation time I'd much rather spend doing other things with, and that I spend an inordinate amount of time for the three days preceding the show wondering "should I talk about this?"

Bottom line is that The Conservative Wahoo Live! is no more.  I wrote Big Fred a note earlier today, and he agreed that it was time to end it.

Thanks to all who listened and called, especially LTJG G, the Hammer, Tom de Plume, Navy Austin.

What I will miss most about ending the show is the loss of an hour a week with Fred.  I'll look to figure out how to steal some in the future.

@Hammer: Amen to that.

When we first started, I always thought "How will we fill up an hour every week?" That soon transitioned to "We always run out of time.." I enjoyed playing Ed McMahon to Bryan's Johnnie Carson, and especially enjoyed Hammer's colorful patois', which in Wisconsin we would call a speech impediment. Had some similar experiences/feelings as Bryan, trying to get the kids bedded down, caution tags on the fax and phones, etc. I too will miss a quality hour a week with Bryan.

I heard your Arbitron numbers were down.

Stephanie, sweetie, I never noticed you taking part in the conversation either on the blog or the podcast. But now, of all times, you feel the need to chime in.
Pardon me, but you can kiss my white Southern ass if you didn't like my contribution.

Amen Stephanie. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of this is that there will be one less outlet for Hammer's brand of douchebaggery.

Unfortunate news. I enjoyed listening.

Now I'm the first to admit, the Hammer and I have had our moments, and I've found myself compelled to edit/censor him.

But that's the old Hammer.

And by the way, were one to actually have LISTENED to the radio program, they'd have realized just how good a caller Hammer is. He is incredibly well-informed, he has thought deeply about the issues, and he expresses his opionions intelligently and succinctly.

The Conservative Wahoo Live! has been a staple on my iTunes podcast collection. I'll definitely miss listening to your show, Bryan.

CW, I loved the radio show. I wish that I had been able to keep up with it over the last 11 months. I remember tuning in while TAD. I completely understand your reasoning though. Enjoy the added time with the kittens.

I am at a loss to think of what I might do to fill the time now. It has become a staple of my Monday evenings to say, "damn, I forgot to tune in yet again" which had nothing to do with the quality of your show and everything to do with the quantity of my functioning brain cells.

Thanks CW, nice of you to say.

I too will miss the podcast. I really enjoyed a chance to talk politics with some great folks and I learned a lot. My only regret is we were unable to attract a bed-wetting liberal, but I guess all those Hunter College "Gender Studies" grads couldn't be bothered to wallow in the muck with the likes of us.

If you ever want to crank it up again let me know, but I understand if you don't. When it all becomes a chore it's time to hang it up and move on.
