Obama's War on Boeing
George Will has a nice piece this morning on the Obama Administration's blatant payback to organized labor. Standing in the way of Boeing's decision to build airplanes where it can do so most efficiently is yet another example of this administration's war on capital. They need every win they can get - one article I read described the demographic wrestling match between right-to-work (generally red) states and union-labor law (generally blue states.
Jobs flee where costs are lower. People are fleeing to where they can work.
But is it the much-dreaded "race to the bottom" for wages, quality of life, etc.? No.
Those red states also have much lower housing costs, lower tax rates, lower cost of living. Right-to-work employees have a generally higher quality of life.
50 states. 50 laboratories of experimentation on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Labor mobility and capital mobility are part of the equation.
