We're busy packing up here, getting ready to head out to Wyoming for nine days. Then the summer is over, the kids go to school, and my nearly seven months of retirement come to an end.
Please come back on the evening of the 31st or in September. I'll be raring to go, full of post convention/VP thoughts and commentary on the West, Dude Ranches and family travel.
In the meantime, please consider using this post as a place to tee up things you'd like to talk about once I return.

You should have considered guest hosts, like Larry King.
A few more thoughts on flying:
1. Gate agents should no longer be allowed to cite "catering" as an excuse for a delay in boarding.
2. Flight attendants should never utter the phrase, "Final destination." What part of destination isn't final?
3. As a frequent flyer out of a small, regional aiport, we always have a turbo-prop. Those planes have the oxygen masks stored under the seat in front of you. The airlines allow me to stow my bag under that same seat, clearly impeding my access to the oxygen mask. I asked the flight attendant if we could do a mass demonstration of all passengers unstowing their bags, getting their oxygen masks, and then deplaning with bags all over the place. She gave me a "No Fly List" look, so I shut up.
For consideration:
1. The impact of the speech writer on the speakers political views.
2. As many on here have held leadership/command positions in the military what leadership qualities do former military leaders look for in civilians with no military or limited military experience.
