"I don't want any lectures about my cholesterol." And with that, the Professor-in-Chief sat down yesterday in Savannah, Georgia to a meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, creamed corn, biscuits, corn bread, turnips, green beans, BBQ pulled pork, blueberry pudding and banana pudding all washed down with tall glass of Southern sweet tea.
This, despite advice to the contrary last week from his physicians, as well as a growing body of medical evidence suggesting that African American men are 25%-30% more likely to die of heart disease compared to their non-Hispanic, white counterparts.
Let them eat corn bread!

Hey, he's only half African-American so maybe that cholesterol thing doesn't effect him. But I hear he's a heavy smoker. If he smokes Kools or Newports maybe he'd better listen to his doctors.
Hammer--having read your comments on this site now for a few months, I have come to conclude that you are starved for attention. I cannot conclude otherwise. You feel the need to comment on virtually every story--10 of 11 that appear on my screen this evening, and I'm sure if I looked even further back the story would be the same. I don't know the lead blogger here, but I have a feeling he'd be okay with you not always commenting. He doesn't strike me as needing the validation.
Legon, you had to poke him, didn't you.
Legon -- Leave Hammer alone.
He has a form of chronic TPS -- Tourette's Posting Syndrome.
And, once-in-a-while/needle-in-the-haystack/diamond-in-the-rough moment provides an insightful comment.
Hammer is more of the "Uncle Louis/Norm/Herb" we all grew up with. You know who I am talking about - Sat in the same folding lawn chair during family reunions, drank too much beer, nieces and nephews avoided him, other relatives occasionally rolled their eyes at his comments while offering him another beer, but the family reunion would not have been the same without him.
Not that he needed the extra attention.
Legon, putting aside your perception of Hammer's attention needs, I assure you, I do need the validation.
Well it's hard to psychoanalyze oneself but I can't dismiss your comment out of hand. Here's the thing. I work out of my house in front of a computer all day. I do this I do that and I check the news sites etc. I have a lot of time to comment, and I'm an opinionated bastard. I do love playing the fool and provoking people. As I've said before, pis somebody off and they'll start speaking truth, from the heart, and that's when things start getting good.
So Dr. Freud, eh Legon, psychoanalyze away. I look forward to your diagnosis.
Classic Dan, I love that comment. You ain't far off. But at my family reunions my nieces and nephews are also my Aunts and Uncles.
Hammer--what you say/how you say it isn't of interest to me or my amateur psychoanalysis. I'll leave CW and others to deal with your commentary.
No, I'm interested in the NUMBER of your responses, and the rapidity (as in how soon after the original post) with which they appear (signaled by your often being the first reply).
It occurs to me that you could start your own blog and not be a victim of having to comment on what CW and his group think is important.
That would not of course, mean that you wouldn't comment here, but it seems like another potential outlet for your energy and another venue for the attention you may seek.
Yeah Legon, problem is, nobody would follow it.
CW: You're brilliant and perceptive and interesting and handsome and witty.
Hey, I get up before the chickens so as to get my kid to school at a absolutely friggin' ridiculous hour. So I grab a cup of coffee, check Drudge, the Page 3 girl (thesun.co.uk, that's how I met the wife) and try to get in a morning rant on the CW.
So who gives a shit? You? As I've said before I'm just trying to have a little fun and promote democratic capitalism.
Why don't you post more Legon? It's apparent you've got a few bugs up your ass so let it out, you'll feel better. Go crazy, get wild, but do you just like to watch?
