Read this....it will be an exercise in self-control for many readers of this blog to make their way though it without shaking their fists in rage.
This young woman CHOSE to go to a private college in New York, CHOSE to pursue a low-paying career in television---yet she is looking for THE REST OF US to help her with her student loan load.
As if her ridiculous story isn't enough...read the comments at the bottom. She is being cheered on by a chorus of "....well if they'll bail out the big companies, they should bail me out...".
We have lost our way.

Took 10 seconds to scroll down the comments and was more taken back by the following comment (almost makes you want to throw up.)

"I wonder if America ever looks at itself and feels bad for the way it puts people in these binds. A) College doesn’t have to be so expensive. B) College education (like Health Care) can be FREE via taxes. just put the students who benefit from gov’t assistance into a specific tax bracket , if people want to still pay for school then they can. C) Certain schools look better on resume’s. Your choice in school is your business and has nothing to do with your loan. D) All STUDENT loans should be capped @ the 10%. That leaves about 28% (I believe) for a mortgage or rent and then the other stuff so that seems fair …. except when you add tax and interest which can sometimes come to 50%+. E) College doesn’t have to be 4 years. They include the core curriculum to get more money. Someone should have looked into that a long time ago. That’s why people who go to speciality schools (producers, computer programmers, animators etc.) make a lot of money and are in the workforce sooner and last the longest. They’re ahead of the traditional college competition. Good luck with everything. I’m sure CNN already gave you a raise!"
Maybe we need to change our nation's name the E.S.A (Entitled States of America).
Scanning the comments, an overwhelming number of posts were in sympathy. I think "sad" understates this phenomenon, "frightening" is more appropriate.
She should join the military as a Public Affairs Officer, get the military to repay her loans, and gain a perspective that CNN might never give her.
Years ago, there was an old tale in the Submarine Service about a lieutenant who inspected his sailors and told the COB (Chief of the Boat) that they smelled bad. The Lieutenant suggested that they change their underwear. "Aye, aye sir, I'll see to it immediately."
He went into the crew quarters and said, "The lieutenant thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your underwear. Smith, you change with Jones, McCarthy you change with Brown, and Witkowski you change with Minotti. Get to it."
The moral: A candidate may promise 'change' in Washington, but don't count on things smelling any better.
Even though her photo is somewhat distorted on the website as I see it on my screen, she appears to be a moderately attractive young woman.
Are there no "gentlemen's clubs" in New York City? Is she too good to work a couple of shifts on the (stripper) pole in order to earn a few more bucks to pay back her loans?
Holy cow! Everyone thinks they are "entitled" to something. She made choices and now wants us to pay? Why didn't she apply for scholarships including ROTC? Why didn't she get a job? Why didn't she go somewhere else less expensive? I am sure there are issues with the college loan system but she signed the papers, not us. So maybe she needs to get a roommate or stop leasing the BMW. Maybe I should ask to gov't to pay of my bills too so I can have more money to spend? Naah, couldn't do that because of something called personal responsibility
She's with CNN, probably located in Atlanta. She'll have to put in her applications at the Cheetah and Gold Club.
I don't know about the rest of the country but here in the Raleigh, NC area all the news we get is UNC basketball over and over again.

Too bad that after her $100K plus NYC education, she remains "uneducated on the process" or she would never have written such vacuous drivel.
More proof for those who believe that more money is the answer to our education woes. She could have gotten a $1M education and my guess is that she would be just as confused (and more in debt).
