It's Not You, It's Me!

Poor Richard Lugar! A lion of the Senate. He was first elected when most of you were trying to shape your peach fuzz into Neil Young mutton-chops (nevermind, that was me) or more likely terrorizing the neighborhood on a Big Wheel. Point being the guy has been around a long time, and he lost in the Indiana primary; not the general election mind you, THE PRIMARY!

If this isn't a wake up call to the establishment Republicans I don't know what is. Ok ok, I can hear it now: If we vote out the moderates we'll get killed in November, we need the swing voters and "right-wing" Tea Party types can't win! Horse Hockey! When Republicans make the conservative/libertarian case, clearly and concisely, they almost always win, and in these troubled times voters are in no mood for compromise. The Tea Party defeated Richard Lugar, and the moderates, compromisers and appeasers in the Republican Party have been put on notice.

You are smoking crack. In the general election the middle/independents determine the election. They are never going to support a Tea Party candidate.

They also hammered him (deservedly) on his frequent support for anti-gun legislation. NRA had him in its crosshairs and that is rarely good for anyone who has rural constituents (and the last time I checked, Indiana had one or two). I'm hoping this will be a wake-up call for others who want to court such Dem anti-gun initiatives.

Ted Kennedy's seat. Dick Lugar. Barney Frank retiring. NO ONE IS SAFE.

Don't bet the farm on it Bill.

I'm with Bill on this. Mitt Romney will be elected President if enough of the muddled middle pulls the lever for him.

Perfect logic CW. And UVA will beat Va. Tech if they score more points

You cleave off the diehard Dems and raging Repubs and it you have 40% of the electorate left over. The President won because he got those people to pull the lever for him, mostly by portraying himself as some sort of center of the road, man of all people. The middle does not move for extreme left or right. Think about that.
