Paul Newman is dead at the age of 83. The man's politics were suspect, but he sure did make some great movies. I cannot do justice to the utter surprise I experienced at the end of "The Sting", and I have always thought "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was one of the best westerns every made.
That said, he was yet another of a brand of celebrity who felt so uncomfortable with their fame that they had to "give something" back to the rest of us....and that is, their insipid political views. Shut up and dance, I tell them.

Who peed in your brie this morning? Hehe hehehehehe....
I'd rather have seen Robert Redford go. Paul Newman's "sharing" of his political views paled in comparison to RR sharing his obviously superior political wisdom to the rest of us mere mortals. After all, he played roles in Hollywood while the rest of us were out just, oh, in theater (and not the kind of theater RR frequents). Of course his perspectives are superior to ours. People magazine et al say so.
