Some Credit for Bush
The "surge" will someday be widely remembered as an act of transcendent courage by President Bush. Doubling down when things looked hopeless provides an object lesson in leadership for those who follow him. Fred Hiatt's editorial today is (hopefully) the leading edge of a more probing and insightful treatment of the President's foreign policy (especially term two) by thoughtful editorial writers.
