Elections Matter, Part XXVII

So California has a fiscal crisis and as part of the effort to solve it, the state looked to cut the amount of money it pays into the compensation of home health care workers. Well, of course this didn't sit well with Service Employees International Union, and they complained to their man in the White House (well, all of organized labor's man if truth be told. The Teamsters are sure getting their money's worth). And so in true Chicago style, the Obama Administration is threatening to withhold $6.8B in stimulus money if the California legislature doesn't reverse its decision. Elections matter, people.

As has been said by many persons in one form or another;

If the citizenry do not hold their officials to standards, then any government gets our of hand. So the question goes beyond taxation, and becomes how can we ever have a sound government, and the answer is by a principled populace. As has been said by Jefferson and Tocqueville, people get the government they deserve.

I guess this means that all the jihadists are correct!

Jihadists are correct if we allow them to succeed in their agenda. And if we allow them to succeed, (as Smoothfur mentioned) "we will get the kind of government we deserve"
