Barack and Joe's Excellent Adventure

The President and Vice President skipped out of the White House yesterday for a burger in Arlington yesterday. I've not yet been to this particular joint ("Ray's Hell Burger"), but I have been to its parent (Rays the Steaks) which is one of the best indy steak houses I've ever been to.

I realize I'm sure to raise the bile of my readers who can't stand anything these two do, but I think it was pretty cool. Slipping out of their magnificent prison for a mid-day burger in a local joint just strikes me as, well, normal.

Maybe it was duty at the Pentagon that does it to you. Everything you need is there; stores, food, clothes. Why leave? But sneaking out for lunch was a wonderful luxury. Walk across the street to Pentagon Row and slip into old Beirut at Lebanese Taverna. Hop on the Metro and head into the city for a club sandwich at the Army Navy Club. I can hardly begrudge the President and Vice President the opportunity to do what I very much love to do myself.

Whew! For a minute there, I thought POTUS and VPOTUS had gotten lunch at Crystal City Restaurant. Glad I read the whole post.

Between having a pizza chef flown in from Chicago, the AirForce One joyride over Manhattan and this, I think your readers have every right to bristle at the hypocrisy of the "Preacher-in-Chief". After all, wasn't this the guy who said, "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times...and then just expect other countries to say OK."?

How much greenhouse gas do you think they kicked up in that presidential SUV motorcade of theirs?

A wise man once said, "I'll believe global warming is a crisis when the people who say it is a crisis act like it is a crisis"

I think McGarblerfest was the catalyst for this whole event.
