All Time High (April 1 2009): 192.2
Diet start (June 1): 189
Last Friday: 167.6
Today: 168.6
Goal: Sub 150
Good Friday, all. As you can see, a challenging week on the diet front, started off by the damage done at the Great Wolf Lodge Buffet....that said, I'm running into a problem with the use of two different scales--the one at the apartment in Arlington (light) and the one here on the farm (heavy). Both are digital, but there is a difference. The good news is, I'm down .6 lbs from the last time I weighed here on the farm scale (10/16/2009).
Enough of that, onto the important stuff. What's on your mind? Anything to get off your chest? Thoughts on NY23?
One favor you can do for me--how do you get to the blog? Do you have it as a favorite? Do you have an RSS feed? Do you get here primarily from queues on Facebook or Twitter? Let me know if you have a chance.

Have you ever thought of merchandising the CW brand, CW?
You know, tee shirts, mugs, etc. How bout a logo to put on the masthead?
Just another way to get the message out...
Is anyone else reminded of the wallpaper in their grandparents' homes when they see the background on this site? Every time I see that brown background with the little pattern on it, I go back in time 35 years.
How's that?
Yer everywhere CW...FB.Twitter.Google Reader."Blogs I Follow" blogger dashboard feed (RSS). I think I even saw you on the Cheerios box and two VDOT lighted signs this morning.
I mostly browse you in my blogger dashboard under "Blogs I follow."...puts you in good company along with Stoaty and the Ace.
Then, of course, there are those chatty FB updates...
...and just like that, he changed it. Keep tryin'...too institutional
No, I LIKED it. It was very homey...Homey.
For the Free For All. Man I wish I'd thought of this. The guy's got over a half million people reading his crap every day, and he's only been doing it a coupla months. Talk about viral...
At least once a week he posts something I heard a version of in the household of my youth...and therein lies the secret of his success.
And now for something completely different.
I caught a Pink Floyd documentary on Sat-TV last evening and it was pretty good, no actual Pink Floyd music which I found odd, but again it was OK. If you're familiar with the band you may know the original founder was a guy named Syd Barrett, and he went off the rails with drug use before the band made it big; he basically fried his brain. The guy turned into a real basketcase and moved back in with his mother. Very sad. But to the point. After the band hit and the cash started rolling in by the boatloads the early albums started selling a bit. Even though Barrett had not been near a recording studio since 1970, the band members made sure he got every penny in royalties owed to him. He died a millionaire.
Like Chris Rock, I don't like giving credit for "sh-- you supposed to do!" But in this instance I think I will. It would have been so easy and so typical of the music business to rip this guy off. But they didn't.
1. We'll leave it like this for a bit--I kinda like it. Clean. Neat.
2. John--FB is the outlet for my banality (just ask Tom de Plume). This is where I bring it.
3. John--That "shit my dad says" is a scream.
4. Hammer--every time I see anything to do with Pink Floyd, I'm transported back to high school, where I wondered what it was that I wasn't getting. Still don't get it, though your story is a nice one.
Ah yes..DJ's loved this one because there was plenty of time to leave the control room and run down the hallway for a pee or even something a little more involved.
Ranks right up there with Green Grass and High Tides, Fat Man in the Bathtub, and The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down...it's a miracle I ever went to class at all.
Don't get Pink Floyd? Let me tell you another quick story my waterlogged friend. On my world travels I very, I say very briefly attended school in Paris. I lived with a Professor and his family and one day they showed me their record collection. It was what one would expect, a lot of Opera and Brandenburg concertos etc. But they also had a copy of "Dark Side of the Moon". "Nuff said.
You never understood Pink Floyd CW because you always had to make sure you had clean urine.
Clean urine, that's priceless! Yeah CW that's it. How the hell can you understand Pink Floyd while drinking a Budweiser?
"Yeah, right"'s onto something...
So much got spilled in the fraternity house, I'd have smoked the carpet in my room if I hadn't been too stoned to figure out how to pull it up and stuff it in the bowl. Just sayin'.
....and so ended my aspirations for living large in the White House.
I'm technologically challenged - I don't Twitter and have no idea what an RSS feed even is - but I know who to read! Sweetie, you're at the top of my Favorites list on my work AND home computers. :-)
Yes, you are sweet CW. Was that your squeeze or just an old sea-buddy?
Ah, Pink Floyd. I remember my bus driver in 9th grade playing the 8-track of Dark Side of the Moon to and from school on occasion. For my Pink Floyd tastes, it is Dark Side of The Moon and Wish You Were Here. I like nothing else.
I've got to find a vintage, "I Hate Pink Floyd" shirt, just like the one Johnny "Rotten" Lydon was wearing when Malcom McLaren "discovered" him.
By the time the 70's were ending (in late 1977 by-the-way...the 70's were only from 1973 - 1977!)I had had it with self-indulgent long-winded guitar and/or drum solos. I quickly gravitated towards the 2 minute 30 second to 3 minute punk then new wave genre! Long live The Ramones, Sex Pistols and The Clash. I'd throw The Police in there too, but I do hold them to a slightly higher standard!
Just to expand upon my decade busting:
50's: 1948 - Nov 22 1963
60's: Nov 22 1963 - 1973
70's: 1974 - 1977/1978
80's: Late 1977/1978 - 1986
90's: 1987 - 1999
One last thing, the evil spudboys are going back out on tour starting November. Yes, I'm talking about DEVO! Remember, as Booji Boy says, "We're all DEVO."
Peace out,
Doc "General Boy" Milnamo
To answer your question CW, I have the page bookmarked as a fave and come in the front door. Every now and then I'll cut through your FB banality and read what you post there. ;-)
I'm tech-challenged, too -- thought I commented this morning, but more likely left it one of my other favorite political-type group-type blogs: you are right up there with Crooks & Liars, AmericaBlog, SadlyNo, FireDogLake, Pandagon, Eschaton, TPM, LawyersGunsMoney, Shakesville, etc. following behind.
In order of frequency:
1. By a great margin: RSS feed for both posts and comments (Google Reader) on my mobile
2. To comment, I usually go from the RSS feed to your site itself -- but sadly, that's a rare opp. -- or if I can't figure out what post a comment is referring to, or if I have a "holy cow, I can't believe G(TH)D has just written that!" moment and need to see it in context on the big screen :)
3. FB: once in a blue moon I catch the announcement of a new item there instead of via RSS; also I like to try to match the comments there with commenters on the site; I'm afraid of losing what little bit is left of my anonymity, tho' so haven't joined your fan club
4. I never look at the 'blogs I follow' in Blogger, but they get dropped into my RSS feed, so indirectly, yes
5. Google Friend Connect, I'm one of your followers, but I don't use that in any way, it's just you, Hillary Clinton's old campaign site and a bunch of mommy blogs, I think.
Thought you stopped twittering after the great debate debacle -- I'll have to favorite your feed to get it to come through the noise.
Happy Hallowe'en to you, CW, your wonderful family, and your very scary friends!
I do love that you are G-advertising our MA dems on the site, very non-partisan of you -- Pagliuca's a good choice, but I'm torn between a few of the contenders right now. Khazei's pretty impressive, too.
GHP--I've gotten much less militant about blocking ads not to my liking. Laziness, I suppose.
GTHD: The answer to your last question is "Neither. But a combination of both."

Greg the Hammer attempted to defend his post about indecision by telling us that it was from Sun Tzu, The Art of War.
Before you go quoting Sun Tzu you should ask the question what has he done lately. :)
And you should be pleased that people post anonymously. That way you need not feel embarrassed by being in the presence of your intellectual superiors should you meet them at a function.
Jesus...SHUT UP! You sound like a freshman poly sci major fussing with his TA.
Ahhh, the trolls appear to have found CW's site.. Possessing intellect should not disqualify one from speaking in the manner of red-necks when the situation dictates.
Always remember, it takes thirty-two distinct muscles to make a frowny face, but only one to pull the trigger on a finely tuned tactical rifle.
Interestingly, I see my "word verification" for today is "diest." Shame they didn't give me "Deist," as Diest is a town in Belgium that I've never felt any urge to visit.
Today I'm a hooky playing Episcopalian, and am punishing myself for missing church by not consuming my standard Sunday bloody. The warm fire, fresh coffee, bacon smells, and the company of my girls overcame my sense of obligation. Saint James will have to muddle through without us today. I'm pretty sure Jesus will understand.
