All Time High (April 1 2009): 192.2
Diet start (June 1): 189
Last Friday (Dec 11) : 171
Today: 177.8
Goal: Sub 150
I don't even know what to say. I've gained three pounds since an unofficial weigh-in on Monday. Included therein were a huge chinese food dinner and yesterdays gorging at Cracker Barrel, but I digress.
Oh well, it's back to work, time to get cracking. What are you up to? What's floating your boat? Did you listen to the radio show? Think it ought to be an hour or a half hour? Weekly?
What's your diet status? Anyone else want to track weekly performance here?
Unburden yourselves, friends. This is the Big Fat Friday Free For All!

First! Yesssssss.
Thought I'd get that out of the way.
In May of last year I weighed 242 pounds.
I began a strict regimen of a daily thirty minute power walk, reduction of daily average calories to 1377 and fat intake to 19%.
I now weigh 185 pounds, my blood pressure is back to normal and my cholesterol readings are back in the green.
If I can do it, you most certainly can accomplish your goal.
I thought the radio show was good. Kind of makes you appreciate the craft a little more, doesn't it? I'm always surprised when critics of broadcasters (Rush, Beck, and even Howard Stern) accuse them of having no talent. Have you ever tried to keep a conversation going for 3-4 hours nonstop, and keep it interesting? It's not easy.
If you plan to keep it to an hour, you might want to have a segment or two where you interview various guests about a topic(s) of the day, then take caller questions/reactions. I'm sure you have an impressive roladex.
You may also want to prepare a few topics of discussion ahead of time and publish them the day of in the blog.
Weighed in last Friday at 201.1
Today's weight is 194.5
Those first 6 pounds were really just holiday weight gain.
The next 4 or 5 are October's beer and schnitzelfest in Germany. The final 10 I shall call "My 40s".
I'd like to participate in BFFFA as well, but I only have one scale. If I buy another one and put a foot on each one, is the additive result accurate or should I just note my weight in number of scales? As in, starting weight: 2, goal weight: 1.
Yes, I realize this revelation will almost certainly extinguish GoHP's secret lust for me.
Smoothfur you are the man! That's a hell of an accomplishment. Seriously, that's outstanding. There's no trick to dieting. It's all about portion control and exercise...and discipline.
I want to talk about David Brooks. I hear him described all the time, even here as I recall, as a conservative. You can call yourself anything in politics but who does this guy thinks he's kidding? He gets on some talking heads show with his half-assed little smile and excoriates conservatives. I think they drew straws at the Times for who would be the stealth conservative (we need someone on the inside front of the war) and Brooks lost. The fact is he wouldn't make a pimple on a conservative's ass. Laura Ingram needs to invite him on O'Reilly the next time she guest hosts and backhand him; when he cries like a bitch the world will know who he is.
Outstanding Smoothfur. I think between you, CW and even Tubby McG I've been shamed.
CW, get me into this tracking mess. Put ol' Doc down for 280lbs and we'll take it from there.
Like an AA meeting, "My name is Jim and I'm a Fat F**k."
(all together) "Hi Jim!"
280 lbs.!? Krishna H. Vishnu you are definitely a heavyweight. Hey Doc, I think one of the twelve steps is you have to go apologize to people you have wronged as a result of your addiction. Are you going to finally apologize to the kids for robbing their Halloween candy? How 'bout when that bucket of chicken went missing?
It's time to come clean.
I recommend that anybody interested in weight loss develop an Excel spreadsheet and meticulously log every tiny thing that goes past your lips. You become acutely aware of the calorie and fat contents of various foods and soon begin to eat more intelligently. (Of course one must have a couple of doughnuts or a pizza now and then.( :)
GTHD: I'll cop to the Ladyfingers and only the Ladyfingers!
"Have you ever tried to keep a conversation going for 3-4 hours nonstop..."
My mother-in-law does it all the time.
You didn't finish the quote,"...and keep it interesting."
