Big Fat Friday Free For All

All Time High (April 1 2009): 192.2
Diet start (June 1): 189
Last Friday: 175.
Today: 176.4
Goal: Sub 150

The second chest/head cold of the season waylaid my exercise plans this week. The ridiculous Chinese dinner after the radio show didn't help the diet either.

What's on your mind, folks. Big week, no doubt. Mr. Brown's gone to Washington, healthcare needs a Death Panel, and free speech now applies to corporations and unions. Let's hear it--what do you think?

The Dems seem to be incapable of accepting that their proposed plans lack merit.

It is never that their ideas are wrong, but rather it is that the people just don't understand (read too dumb) or that they just need to do a better job of explaining it to the people (again (read that the people are too dumb).

God forbid that the left would ever use some introspection and admit their shortcomings.

Well I anticipate that those "dumb people" will identify the Dem shortcomings in the mid term elections and replace them.

189.8 yesterday morning. Now the real grind begins.

But the important number this week is 41.

I want to talk about the 17th. Amendment which supersedes the Constitution as written by that obvious set morons Madison and Jefferson. At the turn of the (last) century, Progressives (obviously much smarter than the founders) thought it needed fixing, and sure enough they fixed it. But did it?

The Constitution, as I understand it, provided for a balance of powers. Members of Congress represented and protected the people's rights. Senators represented and protected the State's rights. The President represented the federal government and its duties and obligations.

So what happens if Senators are elected by popular vote? Exactly what has happened, an erosion of the individual's power, the State's power and a concentration of power at the top. As Madison wrote in Federalist #45 "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite."

Tyranny cannot exist without a strong centralized government. That dear friends is why the founders wrote the Constitution as they did and that's why the 17th. Amendment should be thrown on the ash heap of history.

Apparently, this [CW weight loss] is one thing that being measured is not getting done. I feel that BFFFFA has become a hollow gimmick. I am sad.
