What's in a Name?

The city of Fort Wayne, Indiana has a new government center, and they're conducting an online poll of its residents to come up with the best name. The runaway winner so far is the longest serving mayor of the city, a gentleman who served three terms as mayor and was first elected in 1934. He died in office in 1954.

The present deputy mayor, however, is not likely to honor the poll. I think I know why.

His name was Harry Baalz.

One of my instructors at Leavenworth was LTC Harold Dick. Yes, Harry Dick. He was a badass redleg from Wyoming.

Old girlfriend teaches high school. Her last name is Dick. Her husband teaches PE with Ms. Seaman. I am not making this up.

A local Raleigh guy ran a small mom & pop store for years and years (died recently RIP), but anyway his name was Jack Daniels. I did some bidnez with him a few years ago and he was telling us his Army unit in Korea had him, another guy named Johnnie Walker and another guy named Jim Beam. Jack was pretty solid so I believe him. Strange but true.
