I have a theory that the City of Philadelphia was built upon an ancient Indian burial ground. Something very similar to the plot of Poltergeist (“you moved the headstones but you didn’t move the graves, didn’t you!”).
How else can you explain a city so deeply rooted in sports having such a weak championship legacy?
But perhaps all that’s about to change. The Philadelphia Phillies have taken a two game lead over the LA Dodgers in the NLCS with an 8-5 win last night. This may be the year that the city can hold its head high, turn to its neighbor in the North and say, “Philadelphia is the true City of Champions”.
Then again, if my theory holds true, the Phillies will break our hearts and the city will face another winter of discontent. There will be no joy for little Joey Bagadonuts this year.
At least we’ll always have Rocky.

Just wait until Palin drops the puck tonight at the Flyers game and the chorus of boos that await her. Philly fans deserve their reputation and the a-holes are quite proud of it.
Come on, Philly has a great sports legacy. After all, no other city can claim that their fans booed Santa.
Hey, but at least we have the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight (the Philly Mob). I believe they will provide years of entertainment in lieu of the sports teams doing anything. Except the Sillies as they are....going...all...the...way!
The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight was also second fiddle the the NY mob. Philly is a second rate city.

I spent a month in Philly one week and never have I met a people so proud of their ignorance.
GG, I live in the city. I knew it would happen although it wasn't as bad as I assumed it would be.
Anon #2 is also very correct, if they used the word ignorance in the correct context and not how Phiily people use it as being rude. Just the other day on the morning sports talk program, the woman who hosts stated that she was proud of Philly's reputation.
